Barack Obama is the very first African American to have become the President of the United States, and among the very few black people who have served in the highest offices in the country - the U.S. Senate and the White House. Barack is a Democrat, and has been part of the party since his first entry to politics. Prior to entering politics, he was also an accomplished civil rights attorney and professor, and once served as the president of the Harvard Law Review.

Barack is also a recipient of the world-famous Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts in promoting international cooperation and diplomacy, and has also received several other awards for his books such as "Dreams from My Father" and "The Audacity of Hope". He is also most often described as one of the black people who extraordinarily changed the world, among the likes of Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King, Jr.

Throughout Barack Obama's tenure as president he enacted numerous policies that helped the United States rise back up from the effects of the recession that severely crippled the economic state of the country. Among these policies, the most notable were his Health Care Reform Act, Tax Relief Act, Job Creation Act and Budget Control Act. Barack is also the first president to have supported same-sex marriage in the country, which got him into a lot of controversy, with many people questioning his faith.

Barack's determination to play a significant role in changing society for the better has helped him numerous times, especially during his political career. Growing up in a country where racism is prevalent amongst its people, it was the hope that was instilled in Barack's heart that allowed him to not only endure the harshness of the racist attitudes that the people around him had, but to break through the walls of discrimination that had long kept the races apart.

It is tough to become a president. You will have to make certain decisions that would sometimes make you very unpopular among many if you really want what's better for the country. Having said that, we can see how extraordinary Barack's courage and fortitude is when it comes to making decisions and enacting policies.

And even though he still receives a large amount of criticism, Barack keeps looking forward, always eyeing for the goal that was set before him. And yes, he does listen to most of the things thrown at him, whether negative or positive, but he never lets these things keep him off-track from the road to success.

There is much to be learned from Barack Obama's life that would help us understand why everyone can be extraordinary. It doesn't matter where you're from, or what race you were born in; what really matters is what you decide to be, and whether you believe that you have everything it takes to become the person of destiny that you were born to be.
